The program is taught in-person, with a qualified female instructor through whom students will connect their learning to Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings upon him. Each course will include text based instruction, Qur’anic recitation, an assignment and oral presentations.

Through this program students will revive female scholarship in Quranic sciences and the great sunnah of the Prophet (s). Through this diploma students are able to appreciate the sacred tradition of Qur’anic transmission, traditional modes of learning, and the breadth and depth of the sciences of Quranic recitation. Students will strengthen their relationship with the Quran, build a community amongst women connected to the Quran, and God willing be inspired to be future teachers in their communities. All course instruction, materials, and resources are in English.

Learning Outcomes

 

On successful completion of this program the students will be able to:

• Comfortably open and recite aloud any portion of the Mushaf
• Know and apply the Tajweed rules required for correct recitation
• Acquire a deeper level understanding of the rules of Tajweed
• Be comfortable in projecting voice, and sharing one’s recitation
• Practice voice, rhythm, and pace variations with selected passages of Quran
• Study/memorize 5-6 texts on subject of Tajweed
• Study key classical texts of Tajweed (Muqaddimat al-Jazariyyah etc.)
• Review 2-3 texts on sciences of Qur’an.
• Become qualified to confidently teach tajweed
• Demonstrate appreciation and love for the process and people through whom this science has been transmitted
• Demonstrate trust and confidence in the process of Ijazah and Isnad
• Demonstrate aspiration to grow with their knowledge through personal learning, and teaching others.
• Demonstrate proficiency of recitation required for entry in the
• Qira’ah Asharah Sughra program.
• Qualify to teach tajweed and correct recitation in riwayah of Imam Hafs
• Approved students will attain an Ijazah to teach Qur’an in the qira’ah of Imam Hafs
